Workforce

Nearly 1,300 employees help California Water Service Group serve more than 150 communities across five states. To develop a workforce that performs at the highest levels and reflects the diversity of the communities that we serve, we have made significant investments in hiring, training, engagement, and safety.

Diversity, Equality & Inclusion

Our belief in diversity, equality, and inclusion helps guide our hiring practices, approach to developing talent, and selection of new suppliers. We believe this is the right way to run our business, and it supports our efforts to attract highly qualified individuals who reflect the communities we serve.

Talent Attraction & Retention

The water industry presents unique opportunities and challenges, and we need a workforce equipped to embrace both. We devote significant resources to talent recruitment and development, with competitive pay and benefits as well as top-tier training programs and pathways to advancement. Competitive pay and benefits and a commitment to fair labor practices have helped us earn a Great Place to Work® certification from the Great Place to Work Institute® for the ninth consecutive year in 2024.

Health & Safety

California Water Service Group takes a comprehensive workplace safety approach focusing on prevention, training, and risk mitigation. We work to meet or surpass regulatory compliance standards, encourage employee input, and identify opportunities to enhance our efforts. Contractors must also meet appropriate safety standards.
