Our Approach to Sustainability
At California Water Service Group, we strive to be responsible stewards of the environment, give back to our communities, foster a positive and enriching work environment for our employees, and maintain the highest ethical standards. We believe that managing and addressing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities is essential to the resilience of our company, our communities, and our planet.
Our efforts focus on the ESG issues that impact our business and stakeholders most. We integrate sustainability throughout our business, and we hold ourselves accountable to our commitments.
Our Objectives
Our ESG objectives guide our proactive approach to managing our priority topics and help drive accountability as we measure and report on our progress. We achieved several of our objectives in 2024, including setting science-based greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and establishing formal partnerships to improve coordination for emergency events. Addressing Climate Change
Climate change can impact our operations and our stakeholders, which is why we take a holistic approach to the topic. We are on track to achieve our science-aligned target to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63% by 2035 from a 2021 base year. We are also enhancing infrastructure resiliency, strengthening water availability, and supporting the continued delivery of clean, safe, reliable water in areas exposed to the most pressing impacts of climate change, such as wildfire, drought, and severe weather events.
