California Water Service Begins Palos Verdes Estates Water Main Replacement to Improve Water Supply Reliability, Fire Protection

TORRANCE, Calif.—California Water Service (Cal Water) has begun work on a water infrastructure improvement project that will help enhance water system reliability and fire protection for customers in Palos Verdes Estates. Cal Water crews are installing 3,780 feet of new 8-inch water main along Via Pavion.

"This important infrastructure investment will help us continue to provide a reliable supply of high-quality water to our customers," said Ralph Felix, Cal Water's Rancho Dominguez District Manager, whose district serves Carson, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and portions of Compton, Harbor City, Long Beach, Lomita, and Torrance. "Replacing aging water mains is a key part of maintaining a safe and dependable water system and confirming we can continue meeting our customers' needs for years to come."

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of November. Work will take place Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and crews will work to minimize any disruption to traffic. Traffic control measures will be in place to help keep motorists, pedestrians, and construction crews safe. While some temporary lane closures may be necessary, access for local residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed, which can be up to 30 days after project completion.
