California Water Service Celebrates 100 Years of Service with Customer Appreciation Day in Oroville

OROVILLE, Calif.—California Water Service (Cal Water) welcomed Oroville customers and community members to the Forebay Aquatic Center on Friday, Aug. 21, for a customer appreciation celebration commemorating the company's centennial year and nearly 100 years of service in Oroville.

The free event brought together customers, families, and friends for an afternoon of complimentary watercraft rentals, giveaways, anniversary treats, and water-based recreation. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with Cal Water employees, learn more about water conservation programs and customer assistance resources, and celebrate the company's longstanding commitment to the Oroville community.

"We were thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our customers and neighbors," said Loni Lind, Cal Water's Oroville Local Manager. "For nearly a century, our team right here in Oroville has worked every day to provide safe, clean, reliable water to the community, and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to thank customers for their continued trust and support."

Founded in 1926 by three World War I veterans, Cal Water has grown from serving four California communities to serving more than 20 districts across the state. Oroville has been part of the company's service area since 1927, and the centennial celebration highlighted both Cal Water's history and its ongoing investments in the local water system.

During the event, customers received commemorative giveaways and learned about upcoming water infrastructure projects, and available programs and services to help them manage their water bill and save water every day. Those include rebates on water-efficient devices and Cal Water's Smart Landscape Tune-Up Program. This program offers a free, personalized irrigation system evaluation to identify irrigation leaks, water-saving opportunities, and Cal Water programs that could address high water usage. Additionally, the program includes installation and repair services, also at no charge, to address leaks or broken equipment found in the evaluation, including valve replacements, drip irrigation repair, and upgrades of broken or leaking sprinklers.

Cal Water's Oroville District serves about 11,100 people through approximately 3,560 service connections. The local system includes 60 miles of pipeline, two storage tanks, six booster pumps, and four wells that supplement surface water from the west branch of the Feather River, which is processed at Cal Water's treatment plant.
