Hawaii Water Service Launches Firefighter Grant Program

Fire Departments in Hawaii Water Service Areas Encouraged to Apply for Inaugural Program Funding

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii—As part of its commitment to supporting the communities it serves, Hawaii Water Service (Hawaii Water) has launched its new Firefighter Grant Program. Professional or volunteer uniformed fire departments that protect any portion of Hawaii Water's service areas are invited to apply for grants to help offset costs associated with fire protection efforts, equipment, or training.

"At Hawaii Water Service, we are more than a water utility; we are part of the communities we serve," said Geoff Fulks, Hawaii Water General Manager. "So beyond providing the water firefighters need to keep Hawaii residents, businesses, and visitors safe, we want to help provide essential gear and life-saving equipment that make their jobs better, easier, and safer."

Hawaii Water will distribute up to $40,000 in the inaugural program cycle. The application period closes Sunday, March 1, 2026, and recipients will be notified in the second quarter of 2026. For program details and to submit an application, eligible fire departments can visit www.hawaiiwaterfirefightergrant.com.

"Supporting firefighters is a natural fit for us, and one of the best ways I can think of to support our communities is to help the local heroes who put their lives on the line each day to protect all of us," Fulks added.

The Hawaii Water Firefighter Grant Program is part of parent company California Water Service Group's philanthropic giving program and not paid for through customers' rates.
