California Water Service Set to Begin Water Infrastructure Upgrade to Improve Water Supply Reliability and Fire Protection in Oroville
OROVILLE, Calif.—California Water Service (Cal Water) will begin work on a water infrastructure upgrade the week of June 9 that will improve water supply reliability and fire protection in central Oroville. Crews will install 3,510 feet of new 12-, 8- and 6-inch water main to replace aging main.
"Infrastructure improvements like this help Cal Water provide safe, clean, reliable drinking water to our customers’ homes and businesses. That’s our top priority," said Loni Lind, Local Manager. "Proactive, ongoing maintenance and upgrades like this also help improve our emergency readiness."
The work will take place on:
- Mitchell Avenue, between Spencer and Washington avenues
- Washington Avenue, between Mitchell and Orange avenues
- Orange Avenue, between Washington Avenue and Bridge Street
The project is part of Cal Water’s efforts to continually modernize and upgrade its water system to better serve customers, and is expected to last 10-12 weeks. Work will be performed on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
"We will make every effort to minimize traffic delays during construction, and we will notify customers in advance of any temporary water service interruptions," said Lind, noting that customers can visit myaccount.calwater.com to confirm that their contact information is up to date, along with their preferences on how they would like to be notified.
Temporary asphalt will be applied until permanent paving is completed, which can be up to 30 days after project completion.
